Optimize System Resources
- Click on My Computer and then click on the following:
C:\
Windows\
Start Menu\
Program Files\
Start Up
- Select all the files in this Start Up and move them to a temporary folder on your Desktop (Name it Disabled for Test).
- Delete the files in the original Start Up folder.
- Right-click on any blank area of your Desktop. From the menus you see, click on the following in order:
Properties
Settings
- Change these settings:
Color Palette: 256 Color
Display Area: 640x480 pixels
- Click OK for the settings to take effect.
- If you are using WindowsXP, disable "extra" features, including any options that require more computing resources, such as enhanced graphics and sound.
- Shutdown your computer. Then reboot your computer.
- Do not run any other programs or do anything else with your computer.
- Connect to your Internet Service Provider.
- Start the game.
- When you are able to play, you can experiment to find which external application or display setting was conflicting with the game.
- Click on My Computer and then click on the following:
C:\
Windows\
Start Menu\
Program Files\
Start Up
- Move each application from the Disabled for Test folder on your desktop back into your Start Up folder.
