Optimize System Resources

  1. Click on My Computer and then click on the following:
    C:\
    Windows\
    Start Menu\
    Program Files\
    Start Up
  2. Select all the files in this Start Up and move them to a temporary folder on your Desktop (Name it Disabled for Test).
  3. Delete the files in the original Start Up folder.
  4. Right-click on any blank area of your Desktop. From the menus you see, click on the following in order:
    Properties
    Settings
  5. Change these settings:
    Color Palette: 256 Color
    Display Area: 640x480 pixels
  6. Click OK for the settings to take effect.
  7. If you are using WindowsXP, disable "extra" features, including any options that require more computing resources, such as enhanced graphics and sound.
  8. Shutdown your computer. Then reboot your computer.
  9. Do not run any other programs or do anything else with your computer.
  10. Connect to your Internet Service Provider.
  11. Start the game.
  12. When you are able to play, you can experiment to find which external application or display setting was conflicting with the game.
  13. Click on My Computer and then click on the following:
    C:\
    Windows\
    Start Menu\
    Program Files\
    Start Up
  14. Move each application from the Disabled for Test folder on your desktop back into your Start Up folder.
